Summer Enrichment Programs
Summer Academic Enrichment Program
The Summer Academic Enrichment Program is designed to provide academic enrichment to children from kindergarten to 12th grade to increase required reading strategies, Math skills, reading comprehension, writing, social behavioral skills, and real-world experiences (i.e., professional speakers/facilitators, and field trips).
Why is the Summer Academic Enrichment Important?
All young people experience learning losses when they don't engage in educational activities during the summer. Research shows that students typically score lower on standardized tests at the end of summer vacation than they do on the same tests at the beginning of summer vacation. Help your child by enrolling them in Trinity Christian Fellowship Center. Summer Academic Enrichment Program. Our goal is to help your child succeed in life by giving them the tools they need to succeed and achieve.
On average, students lose approximately 2.6 months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months. Low-income children and youth experience greater summer learning losses than their higher-income peers. Low-income students experience an average summer learning loss in reading achievement of more than 2 months. Summer learning loss contributes to the achievement gap in reading performance between lower and higher-income children and youth (The Johns Hopkins University's Center for Summer Learning, 2008).
Program Hours
The program begins in June, 4 days per week, 5 hours per day (8:00 AM to 12:45 PM), over a 5-week period. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided daily. We are a Summer Food Service Site and therefore provide breakfast and lunch to students' 18 and under, who live within our community. Students requiring transportation are picked up by bus/van.
